Private Yoga Sessions
I also offer private yoga instruction, either at my home studio, or at your location. This is a great opportunity to work on specific poses, themes, or a focus to help you move deeper into your ongoing practice. Also excellent for building your healing tools and skills in working with health conditions, emotional and physical injuries and trauma. Level 1 2: Beginning level Hatha Yoga class grounded in the fundamentals of breath and alignment. Appropriate for students with very little yoga experience, those who have completed the Intro to Yoga course, and for students who want a slower paced class. Basic alignment and correct body positioning in the poses is covered, with emphasis on connecting in feeling to your body, deep breathing, and how to combine breath and movement. Attention is also given to modifying and safely tailoring poses for injuries and health conditions, as well as developing the skill of mindfulness staying present and alert during practice.
Level 2: A class for beginning students who are practicing consistently. This class is centered on focused breathwork to bring your mindfulness into your whole body, detailed pose instructions, the introduction of step by step stages of intermediate poses, and tailoring poses for injuries and health conditions. More emphasis placed on honing your quality of attention and beginning to develop self-sufficiency in your practice. Room is moderately heated.
Level 2-3: A vigorous, dynamic, and mindful yoga workout including intensive vinyasa and standing pose sequences, intermediate and advanced backbends, inversions and gravity surfing. You will build flexibility, strength, and intelligent communication between your mind, body and spirit. Increase your ability to breathe life and energy into every part of your body with focused breathwork. Build your core awareness and vitality with deep abdominal work. Explore challenging asanas with openness, strength, balance and grace. Room is heated to minimum 80 degrees.
Gentle Class: A gentle Yoga based class specially designed for Elders and those healing from injury and/or health conditions, particularly Diabetes. Mild movements combined with focused breathing (can be done sitting in a chair!).
Fit Class: A beginning level Yoga based class designed to build overall fitness. This gentle to moderate physical workout with focused breathing will help support weight loss and cardiovascular health.
